Lessons Policy

Clients decide on the lesson length per week depending on the student and teacher’s recommendation.

We follow a yearly tuition model with automated monthly invoices:

52 weeks per year - 4 Holidays (Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years) = 48 weeks = 4 weeks per month

Depending on the day of the lessons, some months may have 3 weeks while others may have 5 weeks. The monthly fee will remain the same (lesson rate x 4 weeks) for consistency.

Clients must give at least 24 hours email notice to reschedule lessons within the next 30 days. Lessons with shorter or no notice for any reason will be canceled. Lessons that are unable to be rescheduled within 30 days for any reason will be canceled. Canceled lessons can be made up in the form of recorded video lessons so that students can continue their weekly progress.

You are welcome to pause lessons or change the day/length of weekly lessons at any point starting the following month. We understand that this may create small inconsistencies with the number of lesson weeks per year, but we ask for your flexibility so that we can keep invoices consistent across all families.

Thank you for your understanding and supporting our students' music education!

Meet Your Instructors

Thomas Yamada

Composition

“I’ve been fortunate to have had my music performed by school and collegiate bands, orchestras, big bands, and chamber groups. I’ve also composed scores for several short films (Chapman, NYU, indies), TV pilots, and student video games. Outside of composing, I tutor music theory and instrumentation. I believe in the importance of learning a variety of skills, ranging from writing memorable melodies and clear notation to understanding advanced topics like orchestration and score analysis. Having collaborated with film directors and live ensembles, I can offer guidance for composing for the screen and the concert stage.”

Nathaniel Yang

Saxophone

“With nearly 12 years of experience playing the saxophone, I’ve had the privilege of studying under esteemed instructors such as Jay Mason during high school and Gary Matsuura for the past four years. My musical journey has been deeply influenced by classical composers like J.S. Bach, George Gershwin and , as well as jazz legends like Gerry Mulligan and Johnny Hodges.

As a dedicated music educator, my goal is to inspire the same passion for music that has driven my own journey. I am committed to helping my students overcome challenges and guiding them toward their own musical growth and success.”

Daniel Hwang

Piano, Marimba, Orchestral Percussion, Drum Kit

“I have been teaching private lessons and music ensembles since 2019, ranging from guest conducting youth orchestras to directing marching and concert high school percussion ensembles. My teaching approach strikes a balance between regimented, focused skill building and exposure to diverse styles of repertoire in order to cultivate both proficiency in musical technique and healthy growth in my students’ relationships with music. I have had success in preparing students for honor groups (Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra, All-State, SCSBOA All-Southern Honor Band), auditions (Orange County School of the Arts, UCLA, Chapman University), and piano recital performances.”
